MAINTENANCE

Case study

One of the largest logistics companies in Southern Europe ran its own service workshops for many years but had difficulties understanding its true maintenance costs. The management team believed that they could not optimize the utilization of their trailers due to the centralized in-land service facilities used. The structure did not always allow the company to check and service their trailers as they were operating mainly at ports. Maintenance from GE’s FleetCare enabled them to better control their costs and increase trailer productivity. Their trailers are checked and fixed quickly on site, and sent to the closest GE’ service workshop when needed.

ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE

Case Study

There is always a danger that your trailer will breakdown due to tyre damage. It can be a real problem if this type of breakdown occurs during the night. Most transportation companies often need to search for an appropriate service vendor in the location of the breakdown, and this can impact delivery to the customer. One of GE’s TIP Trailer Services’ customers contacted Roadside Assistance from GE’s FleetCare when faced with this exact problem. His trailer was stopped due to tyre damage that occurred on the highway at 23:00. His trailer breakdown was fixed in less than two hours and the customer could then resume his delivery route without great impact on his estimated arrival time.
